Emergency disconnect units separate the line connection in a planned and controlled manner by means of a specific signal.
Often used on BOPs (Blow Out Preventers), the separation sequence is initiated by tensile force or by a hydraulic signal. Various mechanical or hydraulic systems are possible.
After a successful emergency decoupling, the system can easily and quickly be coupled again to enable the further operation of the system. In this way, emergency decoupling systems save considerable costs.
